Around Siprin Khola

From th Nov to 19 th Nov 2010, I had to go on official visit to Siprin Hydroelectric Project.

The project site lies on the way to Tamakoshi Hydropower Project. This way is also trekking route to Gauri Sanker mountain. I was lodged in a hotel owned by the parents of youngest person to scale Mt. Everest. Stayed there for 3 nights.

Met Mr. Pitamber Badu (chairman of Lama construction company) an interesting middle age man. It was irresistible to drink beer when he requested. With drink there was a lot of talks we made. And with the company of the hotel owners, the fun doubled.

On the first day, we travelled from Kathmandu to the project site. The vehicle was available upto Jamune only. Due to lack of bridge, we had to do trekking. A good thing indeed. It took 2 hrs to reach the project site. It was dark when we had reached there. With conversation with Rabin Nepal and Prahlad chaudhary, it took no time to reach the project site.

The next day after reaching the project site, we inspected all the components of project. It took whole day to do that. We reached hotel at the late evening.

On the third day, almost all the official work had been completed, however we stayed there and inspected the project area. Walked through the village. Chirng was with us while roaming around. He was a funny person too.

That night Mr. Badu was absent because he had left the site on the morning. But with Pawan Yadav, Rabin Nepal and Prahlad Chaudhary, we made the evening colourful too.

On the afternoon of next day we left to Kathmandu. On the way i had noticed a shape of hills resembling to shape of Hanuman. It was a mystic experience. It was 9 pm when i had reached home. Thanks to Madav ji, who droved us home safely.

Mystical Rupa

rupa 1.jpg Rupa lake is the most exciting and magical lake in Pokhara. Little bit away from Pokhara towards Kathmandu Highway, its the perfect place to spend your time if you are a creature who likes to feel peace and pleasure of Nature.

My terrified face in jungle of Rupa!

I think God want me to visit every corner of this beautiful city of Pokhara. This was 3rd time in row within this year. On 29th April 2010 I had to go to this place again for some office works. However I had one extra day to spare so the obvious choice to visit was Rupa Lake as I had not been in this place before.

To reach Rupa lake you have to take bus from Pokhara (Prithvi Chowk) to Rupakot. Rupa lake lies at Rupa kot and you have to tell the conducter of the bus that you are going upto Khola ko Cheu ( It means near the river bank). The bus fair was NRs 35 and there are really few buses (only 3) in a single day.

I had planned to cross the Rupa Lake and return from Begnas Lake. These two lakes are separeted by a common ridge of the hill. Its said that these two lakes are like eyes of Pokhara. These two lakes can be viewed similtaneously from the rigde top.

After getting out of the bus, I began by following the motor road and then foot trail but after walking for 2 hours I realized that I was lost! I couldn't figure out the end of this lake. Further, there was no one with me and sun was also near the western horizon so I felt little terified. So I decided to return back. I hope if I need to go Pokhara for the fourth time this mission will be accomplished with success.

The return trip from Rupakot to Pokhara was not less adventerous than the Rupa trek because there was no local bus available (it was too late) and had to reach the highway to catch bus. Anyhow I reached the highway after crossing a beautiful river section ( which looked like glacier) and some wonderful scene.I reccomend to go to this lake in bicyle and travel all around the contry side.

Everest expedition-Bicycle Rally with Puskar Shah

This was a bicycle rally. The tour was from Kathmandu to Charikot. The basic reason for the travel was to give farewell to Mr. Puskar Shah who was going to climb Mt. Everest. He has already travelled 150 countries in bicycle. The rally started on 7th of April 2010 and lasted for next 3 days.

The rally:

Day 1

At Khulamanch

National flag handed to Puskar

As scheduled all people had gathered at Khulla Manch and we all travelled to President's House. A formal programme was organized to hand over National flag to Puskar by the president. The programme consumed lots of time unnecessarily. After the programme was over we tied flag of 150 nations and rallied across the city traversing Patan Heritage Site. After that we travelled to Banepa crossing Bhaktapur and having launch on the road.

Roksi at Dhulikhel

Nirjala sis(right) at Dhulikher with another psyco..

Local people of Dhulikhel had organized a programme to welcome our rally so we had to stop there. Dhulikhelis were serving serious stuff (raksi) for good luck. I wonder would it bring good luck or good accident.

For next 10 km the travel was downhill from Dhulikhel to Panchkhal. And lots of scratches as well. How many people fell off from there bicycle? No records. Had there been some girls riding the bicycle then surely the record would have been doubled.

From Panchkhal we had to reach Dolalghat. Dolalghat was the final destination for the first day. At Dolalghat open camp was organized to pass the night. More raksi at the camping site was provied which made some of our guys sing the song for rest of the night while rest of the guys couldn't sleep due to irritating noise of the song. The song became like a theme song for the rest of the trip. The song was "हे बैनी कमला......आफ्नो जोबन आफै स्महाल".Ah.. its irritating to write it as well.

Day 2

Namaste!

Near Puskar's house

Next morning was no good as well because when we woke up all the guys already had had their brekfast. So we were left hungry in the morning. With Glucose-D power from Anoj we travelled toward Khadichour where we had our launch as well. From this place there is steep uphill climbing so the organizer had planned to carry us and our bicycle on bus. From Khadichour to Kharidhunga we were in bus. Then again on downhill slope to Charikot we were riding our bicycle. Before reaching Charikot a programme was organized to welcome us near the house of Puskar where his mother put tika and gave us Mohi to quench our thirst.

After that we were at Charikot in 10 minutes. Again there was also a programme organized by local people and we were the guest. It's good to be guest. Free stuffs, you know! ;-)

After mess up for arranging room to sleep, we were taken for the dinner 1km away from the lodge. Some (stupid) girls had gone to temple so we had to wait for them at the hotel which consumed more than an hour.

Day 3

Early in the morning we cycled to the same temple which made us wait the previous day. The temple is called Dolakha Bhimsen. On the way Naran injured himself at the steep bend on the downhill. However he managed to reach the temple and return back as well.

After returning back to Charikot bazzar and brief photosession we loaded our bicycle in the bus and travelled back to Kathmandu. We reached the kathmandu on the same day. It was friday.

Crazy thing:

  • Photo session at President's house....

  • The irritating song...."हे बैनी कमला......आफ्नो जोबन आफै स्महाल"

Sad thing:

  • Naran's Accident

Pokhara Again

On 18 March 2010 after landing at Pokhara Airport, we travelled to inspect the Modi Hydropower Project which lies about 70Km toward Baglung-Pokhara highway from Pokhara. A huge construction work was being done to generate 10 megawatts of power from water.

After the job was completed we returned to Pokhara to stay overnight. We had dinner at Sangrila and bed at Trek-O-tel. Interesting names!

Next morning I took a bicycle and ride towards Pame, the same place where we had travelled on Jan-1. Boating at Phewa Lake was like mandatory to me because visiting Pokhara without boating and biking is like not visiting Pokhara at all!

When I returned back to hotel after biking I felt hungry and we had to chek out from the hotel as well. So we packed our bags and went to seek out restaurant for launch. In the way I saw a hotel named Hungry Eye Hotel. The name of the hotel striked me really hard because it felt so real to me. I was hungry and my eyes were seeking for a food place and then came the name of the hotel. Amazing it was! But we ate at different place however.

New year 20.10 at Pokhara

Pokhara, Pokhara!

Background…..

This was the second time I visited Pokhara. Jeevan had returned from USA and this was his invitation which was planned almost couple of months before in the facebook. Many were confused about the invitation and some dropped it on the last hour. However some retained their decision (like me!) , Nabaraj, Mishra, Naran, Raja and Naran were those people. Actually I should cancel Mishra as he stays at Pokhara. Again Jeevan's house is also in Pokhara.

pokhara00.jpg

This visit was coupled with strikes and bands called by Maoist. However this strike amplified our fun.

The trip….

Naran, Raja and I departed from Kathmandu and we cached Nabaraj at Besisahar. We reached Pokhara on the last day of 2009AD as scheduled.

First thing first. Boating. We just dropped our bags and directly ran for boating in Fewa lake. Same old of jokes with same old friends, only difference, this time we were in the middle of lake and if something went wrong we were to be wet.! Mystic magnetism.

New year eve was not as good as we had planned, because the density of crowd was too high in the lake side. And all of our guys were lost somewhere, either physically or mentally. Anyway we managed some food and drinks, thanks to Mishara for Dadaghare wine.

Ok we celebrated the new year eve but we were so low on the next day. Thanks to Jan1 that brought some enjoyment in our appetite. As unexpected strike was encountered on the morning we also made instantaneous plan to rome around Pokhara on bicycle. After brief photoshoot at Lakeside we hired some bikes and rided toward Begnas lake. This was my first time visit to this lake, I was excited. From Pokhara to Lekhnath and then to Begnas took almost one hour. Since there was no traffic in highway cycling was really fun.

IMG_0943.JPG

Nabaraj could practice extreme biking on the way. After Begnas and launch at Jeevan we returned back to Pokhara. Chips like fish (or fish like chips) at Jeevan was delicious ( I was supposed to be vegetarian but couldn't stop eating those veg eating nonvegs).

pokhara01.jpg

Begnas

Then we ridded to Pame from where we observed some strange creatures falling from sky.. (yeh yeh they were not allian in Parachutes).

pame.JPG

At Pame

We stayed at Mishra for the night and only after card meeting with torch light upto 12am guys slept I was already slept by then.

Next day …

We were at temple from where the mountain was seen superbe . After that Mishra left us.

After Mishra left we were taking icecream at Prithvi chowk, it surely was not good thing to get freezed in morning with icecream because next thing we were planning was to ride on top of chilling cold morning. The conductor of the bus was happy with our act because he was gaining extra money by providing our seat to other passenger. But we couldn't sustain his happiness because when it got extremely cold we had to drop off from the roof.

Lastly…

This was strange, yet fun filled travel.
